I love the beauty industry.
I chose a career, a business and a life in this incredible industry, and every day, I am grateful that I did.
I wake up every morning, drink my coffee, check my emails, judge my fiance for leaving the pizza out all night (truth), and then I TRY to take a little time for myself before waking my children.
This routine doesn’t always work out, but I TRY.
Whether I am working from home, in-studio or attending meetings, I f**king LOVE my life.
I f**king LOVE the beauty industry!
When you are passionate, ambitious and dedicated to your job, it’s a rare, but beautiful thing. (Amen to that)
Have you ever been lashing or doing a brow lamination or lash lift on a client, when all of a sudden you realize you’ve used 10 flocked applicators or micro swabs? Maybe 5 solution/adhesive rings? Just how much plastic are we wasting day after day????
Take a moment to think about beauty products that you use on yourself or your clients. What materials are they made from? Are they recyclable? Do they leach harmful chemicals?
Day after day,
Week after week,
Month after month,
Year after year,
A ridiculous amount of beauty products, packaging, and disposable (oftentimes reusable) tools end up in landfills, no longer serving a purpose.
<3 OUR EARTH
Climate change is real, it's happening, and every one is accountable.
The majority of us lead fast paced busy lifestyles, completely obsessed with convenient food and products. We’ve been this way for a while and habits are hard to break. But, I think we are ready for change.
Society is completely consumed with FB, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and other platforms. As beauty professionals, we are often the face of social media. Your clients ask your advice on what products to use and not to use.. because they trust you.
I think we can all agree that we have a large influence on consumers' purchases - and this is one of the many reasons why we should encourage sustainable purchasing.
Let’s spend more time talking about products that are made from materials that are recycled, can be recycled, and are reusable (not disposable tools) and help to reduce the amount of waste we produce.
SUSTAINABLE PURCHASING :)
We can make a difference as an individual, a business and even a community. It is up to us to educate ourselves, generate awareness for consumers and actively invest in sustainable purchases.
Here are some moves our team is making:
+ Focusing on reusable stainless steel tools to replace disposable tools like flocked applicators, micro swabs, solution rings and more.
+ Reducing plastic packaging and using recyclable packaging
+ Creating products that help clean and sanitize tools faster + effectively
+ Developing more practices and procedures that focus on sustainability
+ Working with professionals in various industries to generate ideas - ideas turn into things
+ FREE MONTHLY WEBINARS = free education
+ More educational videos and posts
+ Focus on products and education/training (no more services)
+ Research, research and more research
+ Wholesale options aimed at minimizing packaging
Do you have recommendations? Ideas? Any comments?
