I love trying new makeup products. I feel like I’m constantly looking for the next best foundation, or bronzer, but why fix something that isn’t broken? There are a select few products that I ALWAYS go back to. Some of these I have been using for upwards of 8 years.
My first must-have is the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. This foundation is incredible (good enough for Kim K). It has Light/Medium coverage, with the most beautiful glowy finish, AND it photographs beautifully. Before all the oily-skinned people come for me - I too have oily skin and this is still gorgeous! Just make sure you powder in the right places and you’re golden.
Another amazing product is….. Yes, you’ve guessed it - the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Bronzing Cream. This product used to go by the name Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel Makeup Universal Bronzing Base (what a mouthful). It’s recently gone through a name change (I can’t see much of a difference in the actual product itself). This product is so easy to work with. It also has the most amazing airbrush-effect on your skin. I use it mostly for bronzing but honestly it works fine for “contour” if you want to really sculpt your cheekbones out as well. It just won’t have quite the same shaded sort of tone that an actual contour product would give. Unfortunately, there is currently only one shade of this product, so this won’t work as a bronzer for those of you with darker skin. Limited shade range seems to be a pattern with Chanel which isn’t good enough. If you’re unsure, I would try testing it out - Shoppers carries this product.
While on the subject of cheeks, the most amazing powder highlighter I’ve ever used is the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter in the shade Opal. This shade is described on Sephora as “neutral, white gold with soft pink pearl - especially flattering for medium-tan skintones”. Well, I am pretty fair and I think it’s pretty damn flattering on my skin as well. I can’t tell you how many people I’ve applied this on and recommended it to. I’d say most of my friends have it now! It just gives the most amazing wet, sheeny look. It’s gorgeous just applied on it’s own, but if you wet a brush and then apply it…. You are going to have some SERIOUS cheekbones!
A must-have list wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the queen of glowy skin, Mrs. Charlotte Tilbury - specifically, her Hollywood Flawless Filter. This gives essentially no coverage, but under foundation… oh my god. You are literally flawless, filtered, and SO glowy. If I’m wearing foundation I never not wear this. There’s a good range of shades for this product, but because it doesn’t offer any coverage, you can kind of float around between shades.
Again, hats off to Charlotte Tilbury. I’m talking about the Pillow Talk Lip Cheat & Pillow Talk Matte Revolution Lipstick. Like you haven’t heard this before, but this is literally the perfect “my lips but better” shade. They both glide over the lips so easily. And this is the most comfortable matte lipstick I’ve ever worn. Zero complaints.
My most worn lip color of all time is probably the Sephora Cream Lip Stain Liquid Lipstick in shade #13 Marvelous Mauve. It’s a beautiful mauvey-pink. I’d say anytime someone compliments my lip color or asks what product I have on my lips, this is what I’ve got on. For a liquid lipstick, it’s very easy to apply, doesn’t crumble up, and lasts for so long! Obviously if you’re out for a bite to eat or having a few drinks with friends, you will need to reapply!
Last lip product (I promise). This is what I have on my lips 99% of the time. The Laneige Lip Sleeping mask. This little thing is actually mind-blowing. Apply it before bed and you wake up with these amazing, soft lips. If you have flakey lips, you should be exfoliating them here and there for the best results. I don’t just use this at night though, I apply it throughout the day. It’s amazing and I love it and you all need it.
Let’s touch on brows quickly. So far the only brow gel I’ve ever used that gives me that feathery, brushed-up look, and keeps them that way for the duration of its wear, is the Kelly Baker Brows Clear Brow Gel. This stuff is no joke. I can’t get it off my brows with anything other than my Dermalogica Precleanse.
Lastly, I’ve gotta talk about the Lash Detox from House of Glam. Before I had lash extensions, I was pretty rough on my eyes when trying to get eye makeup off. The second I got lash extensions on, I had to change my ways. I was urged to buy this detox from my then Lash Artist/Friend and now Boss, Kristie! Guys, I’m not just saying this to sell you a product, but this stuff really works. It is a gentle, foaming cleanser, and without much pressure, removes all eye makeup. Even now without lash extensions on I am still reaching for it. The nourishing properties this detox has are beneficial to natural lashes. Do yourself a favour and order some! You can purchase the Lash Detox by CLICKING HERE!
I could probably add more to this list, but I don’t want to overwhelm you. If you have any product questions, or would like me to recommend something for you, reach out!
